Description
Poster Frankfurter Tor Berlin
The Frankfurter Tor Poster Berlin represents the place “Frankfurter Tor” and the format Din A4 is vertical. It’s located in the Northeast of Berlin, in the disctrict Friedrichshain.
I drew this urban sketch on the 20th of November 2009 directly at the location. Map
It’s called the gate of Frankfurt. Indeed Frankfurt-am-Oder is in direction East, on the boarder between Germany and Poland.
As a technique I applied wash drawing (ink and water). So as artistic tools I used for this illustration:
- a sketchbook (Watercolour Paper “Montval”, Format 30 x 30 cm -11,8″ x 11,8″-, 300 g/m2 -140 lb.in2-)
- a calligraphic pen (“Pilot Parallel Pen”- 2.4 mm)
- 2 paint brushes (fine and medium)
- chalk
I was sitting near the big avenue “Frankfurter Allee” and the “U-bahn” (subway) station.
We see on the middle ground of the picture, the power cables of the tramway. Typicall infrastructure of East Europe or Soviet countries. This urbanism with very large avenue and this architecture is like in Warsaw! So there you have a feeling of the ex-East-Berlin! A souvenir of the GDR (East Germany) called “Ostalgie“.
This illustration is also on my blog “Traversée d’Encres”.
