Description
Poster Engelbecken Berlin
The Poster Engelbecken Berlin represents a statue in the parc Engelbecken. It’s located between the road Legiendamm and the road Leuschnerdamm.
I drew this urban sketch on the 5th of January 2011 directly at the location in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
As a technique I applied wash drawing (ink + water). And as artistic tools I used for the Poster Engelbecken Berlin:
- a little black panoramic sketchbook that I began in 2010 (Format 23 x 15,5 cm – 9″ x 6″-, ca. 100 g/m2 – 342 lb.in2-)
- a calligraphic pen (“Pilot Parallel Pen”- 2.4 mm)
- fineliner Staedtler® triplus
- 2 paint brushes (fine and medium)
- dry pastels
I was sitting on a bank, front of the statue. Snow was everywhere, it was cold but a nice atmosphere. The contrast of the white and the colored graffitis was really beautiful. I needed one hour to draw this urban sketch and then I colored it in my studio. The statue is a goddess aus India, who looks in the direction of the church “Michael” after the lake, to the Nord. But there is no Hindu temple. Around the statue there is some lions heads and hindu figures. In spring and in summer, it’s a fountain.
Moreover this parc is located on the border of the Berlin Wall, that’s why it’s also called the “Berliner Mauerweg”.
This illustration is also on my blog “Traversée d’Encres”.
